The Q&A Archives: Pruning Endless Summer Hydrangea

Question: How and when do I prune back last years growth on my endless summer Hydrangeas?

Answer: Endless Summer is remarkably hardy, even to Zone 4, but if your plant dies down to soil level during the winter, it will send up new flowering stems the following year. Since Endless Summer blooms on new growth you can cut the entire shrub back severely to shape it, or you can just lightly prune. Either way is fine with your Endless Summer. Best wishes with your garden.
