| Hello I have a problem with stray cats. They have found a haven under my evergreen pine trees. They spray and poop there. I am pregnant and can't clean the droppings for toxoplasmosis fear. Please give me advice to get them away. |
| You can't blame cats for wanting to hang out in a comfortable area, but it can be bothersome to have them digging and spraying and defecating in your yard. Cats are creatures of habit. The key is to break that habit by making their experience in your yard an unpleasant one. You can put up a temporary barrier until they learn not to visit your garden. An inexpensive deterrent consists of stakes placed around the area with nylon fishing line strung from stake to stake. Keep the line about 6" above the soil surface and make sure it criss-crosses every 8". Cats entering the area beneath your pine trees will quickly exit because they'll be afraid of getting their legs caught. Once the cats associate fear with being near the trees they will stop visiting. Hope this helps! |
