| I started my pansies indoors around the beginning of February. Here it is, the end of April, and I still haven't gotten any flowers yet. I transplanted some of them outdoors two weeks ago but nothing seems to be sprouting. Is it to late in the season for the pansies to flower this spring? All the pansies in the garden center have already flowered and some look as if they are done for the spring. What did I do wrong or is there still time before the late spring and early summer comes? |
| I'm not sure of the problem - pansies prefer cool, moist well-drained soil and cool air temperatures in which to grow and bloom. Do they seem to be growing well and does the plant size compare well with what you see at the garden centers? Sometimes pansies don't bloom because they've gotten too much nitrogen fertilizer. Cease to fertilize them, and your pansies should bloom eventually - just keep them in partial shade (not direct sun - they'll die more quickly in summer heat). Hope this helps! |
