| If you removed the flowers and foliage from the tulip bulbs, the bulbs may not flower next year. That's because the leaves transport energy to the bulbs for storage over the winter months to be used for the following spring's growth. Without leaves, no carbohyrate storage can take place and therefore no flower. Have your mother air dry the bulbs and then plant them in the garden in September or October. They should sprout next spring. It's important to leave the foliage alone and let it die down naturally so you're sure every last ounce of energy is stored in each bulb. This will assure good growth and a beautiful flower every spring. |
