We have a hill leading to our back yard and it is now a big med mess what type of land scaping can I do to stop this

You can either terrace the hill to stop soil erosion or you can plant some ground cover plants such as Ajuga, ornamental grasses, creeping cotoneaster or junipers, lirope, creeping euonymus, vinca or pachysandra. Best wishes with your landscape.
