Tomatoes are pollinated as the wind shakes the bloom, causing pollen to fall from the male flower parts onto the female part of the same flower. If your porch is very protected from the wind you may need to shake plants every day or so to help them pollinate. Hobby greenhouse growers sometimes use an electric toothbrush to briefly rattle the blooms!

Strawberries can be pollinated by gently brushing the open flowers every 2 or 3 days with an artist's paintbrush.
