Flowering cherries tend to take several years to become well rooted and established after planting and the flowering increases annually after that, so this may just be a case of the tree needing more maturity. It sounds as though your tree is growing well so there is probably nothing lacking in its care. But to assure that soil conditions are adequate, you might try a topdressing of good quality compost in the spring. You could also apply a general purpose granular fertilizer or a slow release fertilizer in the spring per the label directions. Enjoy your cherry tree!
