The Q&A Archives: Dwarf Alberta Spruce

Question: I sprayed for mites last fall and the shrubs look half dead. Should I just dig them out or wait and see if they come back?

Answer: I'd give them a chance to recover. Spider mites like hot, dusty places so to discourage them, simply hose your spruces off every few weeks during the summer months, directing the spray towards the inner parts of the spruce. This will make the mites want to find another place to reside.
