does the asiatic lily, plant code number shda1156 bloom more than once per season--if so what are some blooming tips for this plant |
Asiatic lilies bloom in the summer and produce several flowers on a single stock. Deadheading spent flowers will prevent the plant from setting seed. Instead it directs its energy to rebuilding the bulb's strength so it will bloom well the following year. When you deadhead, you can snap off individual blooms with your fingers (take the entire flower not just the petals) or snip them with a sharp bypass hand pruner. Leave as much of the foliage intact as possible as this helps fuel the bulb. The fragrance is wonderful when the plant is in bloom. Enjoy! |
