Azaleas are part of the Rhododendron family and will grow wonderfully well next to rhodies. You might also consider planting Cornus racemosa (Gray Dogwood), Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle' (Annabelle Hydrangea), Hydrangea macrophylla 'All Summer Beauty' (All Summer Beauty Hydrangea), Hydrangea macrophylla 'Nikko Blue' (Nikko Blue Hydrangea), Kerria japonica 'Pleniflora' (Double Kerria), Ribes alpinum (Alpine Currant), Ribes aureum (Flowering Currant), Sorbaria sorbifolia (False Spirea), or
Symphoricarpos albus (Snowberry). Best wishes with your garden!
