I have a very steep banking that is not real tall but it is all red clay. It is partial to full sun. What would be the best thing to plant that requires little care in this area?

I'd plant a vine or a ground cover in the area to slow soil erosion. Some plants to consider include:
Ajuga (Ajuga reptans); Asiatic jasmine (Trachelospermum asiaticum); Confederate jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides); Liriope (Liriope muscari); Monkey grass (Ophiopogon japonicus); Prostrate rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis); Santolina (Santolina sp.); Trailing juniper or Vinca major.

Best wishes with your landscape!
