The Q&A Archives: Getting Roses to Climb

Question: How do I get my roses to grow on the trellice? The roses have been here for years but just put up 2 trellices

Answer: You'll need to coax your climbing roses up the trellis by gently tying each stem as it gets tall enough to reach the trellis. I hope you're growing climbing roses rather than shrub roses. I'm afraid shrub roses will never grow tall enough to climb on a trellis!
