I want to plant wild violets. My mother used to have them in her yard, and very much wants to find some to plant. We can not find any in the Chicago area (north suburbs) and would appreciate any information about how we can get some (even though they are considered a weed by everyone but us!)

Viola odorata, or sweet violets, are the flowers you remember from your childhood. I have a huge bed of these plants and they're wonderful! They may be carried by a local nursery - why not phone one and ask? If you can't locate a convenient source of plants, you can order seeds from Thompson & Morgan, PO Box 1308, Jackson, NJ 08527.
