Thanks for your quick response to my question about wild violets. I have heard 2 names (odorata and papillonazea). Is there a great difference (in color, hardiness, smell, spreading-power?)

Viola odorata is known as sweet violet. It is a semi-evergreen stemless perennial, carpet forming, up to 4 inches tall, with leaves up to 2 inches in diameter. It is the species and the most familiar of all violets. There are many cultivars - although I'm not familiar with papillonazea - and each will have slightly different characteristics. Wish I could offer more help!
