I have flowering shrubs in a raised bed. I mixed the existing soil with miracle-gro soil for shrubs. The problem is the soil stays too wet, almost muddy. When I water, it doesn't really soak in, in puddles. It's not that I'm watering too often, the water puddles even when the soil is very dry. What can I add to the soil to make it absorb the water

I think your soil has a high clay content, even with the addition of the Miracle Gro as an amendment. To help break up the clay soil you might add some gypsum. It comes pelletized and you can work it into the top few inches to help break up the clay. Hope this helps!
