Aspidistra elatior goes by the common name "cast iron" plant and for good reason. It is a tough survivor, tolerant of deeper shade and poorer soil than most landscape species.

You can plant it in full sun, although most people save it for the deepest shade they have, leaving precious bright areas to more eye catching color plants. Don't over fertilize, it doesn't need it.
