I live in South Louisiana and my Mexican Petunias' are taking over. How do I get rid of them? I do not want to use round up and it would take forever to dig them up with the underground rhizomes. Thanks.

There's really no way to eradicate your Mexican petunia plants without pulling or digging them up , roots and all. Any roots you leave in the soil will sprout new stems. I've even tried covering over the plants with black plastic. The tops die down but the roots send up new shoots everywhere! Just dig them out and be rid of them once and for all!
