The Q&A Archives: Heirloom Tomatos

Question: if heirloom tomatos are planted in a bed with hybrid tomatos, will the heirloom tomatos' fruit taste hybrid?

Answer: No, the tomatoes on either plant will taste exactly like they are supposed to. The flavors will not be transferred from one plant to the other. However, if you saved the seeds from either plant and planted them next year, you would have a totally different tomato that would taste a little like both parent plants.
