| I have a bed of English Ivy that faces the west. It is exposed to the winter wind. The last couple winters have been colder than usual,with ice. The ivy died, I replanted and then it died again. Is there a hardier breed or an other ground cover for a unprotected west exposure? I live in southern Illinois, near St Louis , MO. |
| English ivy is normally pretty hardy stuff. Even if the leaves die back, the roots usually remain alive. Instead of replacing the plants, try simply cutting off the dead stems and foliage. I think you will find the plants roots are still alive and will resprout new stems and foliage when the weather warms. Hope so! |
