Nematode Resistant Tomatoes - Knowledgebase Question

I planted a in the ground vegetable garden about 10 yrs ago. When planting tomatoes in this garden this year, do I need to treat the soil for nematodes?

I wouldn't treat the soil unless you have had problems in the past with nematodes. Your best defense is to rotate your crops, planting your tomatoes in different areas of the garden each year and to plant nematode resistant tomato varieties. The most nematode resistant variety I have ever grown, here in the Miami area, is 'Better Boy'. 'Celebrity' and 'Big Beef' are also resistant as is a paste tomato called 'Viva Italia Hybrid'.
