I was given a young tree (about 2' tall). Trunk is broken, about halfway up, but not severed. Still getting nutrients. What can I use to

I would gently wrap the broken part with gauze, old nylon panty hose, or similar material that will breathe and not hold too much moisture against the trunk. The wound will heal over eventually. You might even want to place a "splint" of two or three toothpicks or twigs under the wrapping to help keep the trunk straight if it won't stay upright on its own. Best wishes with your tree!
