We planted a broom plant last spring - it was beautiful - lots of new shoots it was a vibrant green all winter - now it's brown. i checked and the stems are not dry - they bend not break. i know it's to bloom in the spring but i don't know if it's ok - we live in pennsylvania - is there something wrong with it? thanks |
That doesn't sound good, does it? Scotch broom is evergreen in mild winter areas but deciduous in cold winter areas such as yours. It should leaf out within the next 2-3 weeks. If it doesn't, prune it back to encourage new growth. If nothing sprouts by the end of May, the plant may be dead. Let's hope for the best! |
