The Q&A Archives: Best Lawn for Shade

Question: Hi, I have an area in front of my home that does not get much sun, and I will like to plant grass and flowers, what do you suggest I get?

Answer: Tall fescues are the most shade tolerant of all grasses; Kentucky blue is moderately tolerant. Check to see what shady lawn mixtures your local garden center carries. Sometimes there are mixtures blended especially for local growing conditions.
