I live in Pinellas county, Florida = sandy soil. Should I spend the money to buy or rent a PLUG aerator? Should I even bother doing aeration in this soil? |
Sandy soil can be improved with the addition of organic matter. If you rent a core aerator, which removes one inch by 3 inch long plugs from the lawn, you can leave the plugs on the lawn to dissolve in rain water or water from the sprinklers. After aerating, spread a half inch of compost over the entire lawn. The compost will work its way down into the holes left by the plugs and help improve the soil beneath your lawn. Hope this helps! |
