I planted yellow African Iris about 2 years ago and they still have not bloomed. Everyone elses are blooming. Could they be getting too much water? I water them almost everyday. It says that they are drought tolerant. Is there a particular fertilizer to use on this plant? |
African iris, Moraea iridioides, is well adapted to your area. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Although the plant can tolerate dry conditions, it prefers moisture to bloom well. Fertilize three times a year (early spring, early summer, and early fall) with a balanced fertilizer that's not too high in nitrogen. And tell your plants we said to get with the program and let's see some bloomin'! If they don't respond, try digging them up, dividing the clumps and resetting them with a cup of bonemeal worked into each planting hole. |
