Is there any fertilizer I should be using on my japanese maple? I planted it late in the summer last year.

You don't need to feed your Japanese maple unless the leaves are off color or the tree is not growing. Japanese maples are slow growing and if you fertilize and force growth the branches will be weak. So, don't feed unless you need to and if you do, use something like an 8-8-8. Best wishes with your tree!
