I was given tulips in a potted plant for easter. I would like to keep them and plant them outdoors. How should I do this?

When the flowers are spent cut off the flower stems but leave the foliage alone. When it dies down and turns crispy brown you can dig the bulbs, pull off the dead foliage and store the bulbs in a cool, dark place until fall. At that time you can plant them in the ground. Enjoy your tulips!
