identifying filbert tree - Knowledgebase Question

I planted a barcelona filbert and Casina filbert and one died. I don't which I still have. How can I tell the difference? (I need both for pollination purposes)

I wish there were an easy way to tell, but botanists use flowers to key out a plant and without flowers, there's no way of knowing which tree survived. You may be able to take flowers from your remaining tree to your local cooperative extension office for identification. Or, you can plant another filbert tree that is neither Casina or Barcelona and the new tree will cross pollinate your surviving tree.
