The Q&A Archives: azaleas

Question: just purchased some encore azaleas, they are starting to bloom in the containers, should I wait to plant them after they bloom?

Answer: Since transplanting can stress shrubs, I would wait until after blooming has finished and the flowers are spent. At that time you can prune off the spent flowers and then transplant your azalea. Enjoy your new shrubs!
