The Q&A Archives: patio gardening

Question: is there a specific rose i could grow in a container and get prolific blooms throughout the entire growing season? i live on the 2nd floor and get excellent sun.

Answer: A number of roses grow well in large containers such as a half whiskey barrel. If you don't have enough room for such a large container, you might want to grow miniature roses, instead.

Some of the full size rose shrubs that grow well in containers include the red hybrid tea Olympiad, the apricot-colored Brandy, and the delicate light pink single Dainty Bess. You might also like French Lace, Escapade, Golden Wings, Crystalline, Playboy, Color Magic, Royal Highness, and Silverado.
