The Q&A Archives: Shrubs for Erosion Control

Question: Are there any shrubs that could help stop erosion on a river bank?

Answer: Willows are famous for their affinity to riverbanks here in the Northeast, and I'm sure there are some species native to your area that would fill the bill. The best source for this information is your Soil Conservation Service (I believe they're part of the State Agency of Natural Resources). Once you find out about particular species, we can let you know if there are selected ornamental varieties, and where to find them. I hope this helps!
