LAST YEAR I PUT DOWN WEED KILLER ON MY BACK YARD. THIS YEAR I WOULD LIKE TO START A VEG. GARDEN,BUT IS THE SOIL SAFE NOW? CAN I EAT THE VEG. THAT I WOULD GROW ON THE SAME EARTH, THAT I POISONED LAST YEAR? WOULD I NEED TO TEST THE SOIL, OR JUST GO AHEAD, AND START PLANTING? I DO NOT WANT TO EAT BAD VEG.!

If you used a product like Round Up to kill the vegetation the soil will be safe to grow vegetables this spring. Round Up degrades in the presence of sunshine and fresh air and does not travel in the soil. To make sure, read the label of the product you used and it will tell you how long to wait after applying the product. If you used the product up and threw away the container, go to a nursery or garden center and read the label on the same product you used. It will tell you how long you need to wait before planting. Best wishes with your garden!
