| My neighbors' & my huge areas of English Ivy which grew abundantly & continuously over 35 years seems to have died, or is in the process of succumbing to a disease. All of the leaves are gone, leaving nothing but withered vines. This process started a few years ago, and I thought it was due to deer, drought, cold. What could be causing this? There are no new leaves on the vines. Date: 4/21/09 |
| Common infectious diseases of English ivy include anthracnose, bacterial leaf spot, Phytophthora root rot and leaf spot, and Rhizoctonia aerial blight and root rot. Edema, a noninfectious condition resulting from excessive moisture, may also damage English ivy. If you see no spots or lesions on the foliage, the problem is most likely root rot. You may need to remove the dead ivy and replant. Wish I had better news for you! |
