I think one week is about average for rose flowers. Prune off the spent flowers and new flowering branches will grow. The browning leaf edges can indicate over fertilization or over watering. Roses like moist soils but the soil needs to drain well. Try cutting back on the watering, waiting until the top inch of soil is dry, then watering thoroughly. This will probably every 3 days in the summer time. Leaves can also be damaged by excessive pesticide sprays so don't spray unless you actually see insect or disease problems on your roses. Good luck with them!
