There is a system! You just need to plant perennials that bloom at specific times and when those have finished blooming, another will just be coming into bloom. Here's a partial list and you can fill in around these perennials with annuals: For spring bloom - Gas Plant (Dictamnus), Globeflower (Trollius), Iris, Lady?s Mantle (Alchemilla), Lungwort (Pulmonaria), Poppy (Papaver), Sea Pink (Armeria). For summer bloom, plant Japanese Anemone, Stoke?s Aster, Astilbe, Baby?s Breath, Balloon Flower, Butterfly Weed, Cardinal Flower, Lobelia, Black-eyed Susan, Shasta Daisy, Chrysanthemum, Daylily, Coralbell, Coreopsis, Gas Plant, Goldenrod, Ligularia, Lupine, Garden Phlox, Perennial Sunflower, Yarrow. For fall bloom (September-Frost) plant Hardy Ageratum, Japanese Anemone, Aster, Chrysanthemum, Lily Turf, and Sedum. Best wishes with your garden! |
