| I planted trumpet vines last spring and they grew beautifully on my trelles although they did not bloom in their first season. Why? They are showing no signs of coming back to life this spring. Is it too early to tell 4/24 if they will come back? They are very hard and brittle and look quite dead. Why? Should I have pruned them back in the fall? |
| Trumpet vine should be hardy in Denver so unless the soil got really soggy over the wintertime, your vines should grow this spring. Cut back the obviously dead stems to promote new growth. Sometimes trumpet vines won't bloom for 2-3 years after planting so I don't think that is of concern (disappointment, maybe, but not a health concern). If the roots made it through the winter you should see new growth a few weeks after pruning them back. Hope so! |
