I have a Carefree Wonder Shrub Rose which performs beautifully, but it has never grown taller than 3 feet. Are shrub roses supposed to be cut back every fall?

The "Carefree" rose varieties are generally quite small, so 3 feet sounds about right. These roses do not need to be cut back in the fall, but they may be thinned lightly or shaped in the spring while they're still dormant. One of the main attributes of these roses, apart from their eye appeal and in addition to their wonderful winter hardiness, is their genuine ease of care!
