Almost every spring for the past 12 years we have had trails of dead grass from what I am told, voles. For the past two years they seem to now be eating our hostas all the way into the ground. In fact, it almost looks like saw dust! Do you really think voles are our problem? How do I get rid of them so I don't have to repair our lawn every year from the damage they do?

Plant roots of all kinds, including hostas, are on the menu of most voles. The most effective control involves simple mouse traps, baited with peanut butter and/or bacon. Reset as often as necessary to reduce the vole population.
