How often should you water your vegetable garden?

When you water, thoroughly soak the soil to a depth of 6 to 8 inches. Depending on stage of growth and temperatures, a 5- to 7-day interval may be enough. To slow evaporation, spread a 2-3 inch organic mulch on the soil between your vegetable plants. You'll have to dig down into the soil to see how deeply the water has after you've watered to get an idea of how long you need to run your sprinklers to reach the goal of 6-8 inches of soil moisture. Best wishes with your garden!
