| My tree is about two yrs old and it didnt have problems till about a month ago. Now its limbs are wilting and leaves look biten and awful. should I cut off the limbs? I sprayed some disease control on the leaves but it doesn't seem to be helping. I want it to look pretty again. What should I do? |
| Avocado trees need perfect soil drainage or they will be susceptible to root rot and verticillium wilt. I think because your tree is under stress insect have been feeding on the leaves. A disease control product will not cure the wilt or keep insects away. The problem is with the roots. You may want to dig down into the soil and check the root system. Break a couple of the roots in half and look inside. Healthy roots are creamy white; diseased or dead roots will be brown or rusty colored and may be mushy. If the roots look okay then your tree should recover. Just water deeply once each week and wait for some improvement. Don't cut off the branches or remove the leaves. If the roots are okay your plant will develop healthy new leaves. Let's hope for the best! |
