I have a very shaded place up against my house. I would like to plant a large blooming perennial. What would you recommend.

There aren't too many large perennials that will flower in shade but you might consider a dwarf shrub (under 3'). Here's a publication from Texas A & M that might help you choose just the right plant for the shady garden:
