| You can transplant your hostas as long as you do it quickly, not exposing the roots to dry air for any length of time. I think it is easiest to just dig straight down all around the plant and then pry the rootmass up with a shove. Expect the roots to be directly beneath the plant and down 8-12 inches (depending upon the size of the plant). Prepare the planting bed first, then set the hostas in their new home and water them well. Expect some wilting. As long as you keep the soil moist but not soggy wet, they should recover from the move in a few weeks. Best wishes with your garden! |
