Hydrangeas do best in a soil that is organic and humusy, so an annual top dressing of a good quality compost is a good idea, as is using a year round layer of organic mulch that can break down slowly and feed the soil on a continuing basis. You can also use an all purpose granular or slow release fertilizer in spring. Look for a complete formula such as 10-10-10 or similar proportions. Read and follow the label instructions. Enjoy your hydrangeas!
