I planted Lilies of the valley last year in my flower box which is half sun of the day and half shade. The lilies of the valley have not started to come back up - they are still dead looking (brown and dried up) Is there anything I could do? I live in a zone 5.

You might wait another few weeks to see if they spring to life. Lily of the Valley survives in the ground in your growing region, but I'm not sure the planter boxes will provide adequate insulation from the winter weather so you'll just have to wait and see if they survived. If not, you may have to replace them. Hope they pop up soon!
