You can try a couple of things; diatomacious earth sprinkled on the soil will repel them, as will crushed eggshells. The trick with the diatomacious earth is that it's only effective when it's dry, so you'll have to reapply it after rain or after you water. Crushed egg shells work in any weather, plus, you can dig them into the soil at the end of the season. Copper barriers work well, too. The initial expense will give your plants protection for at least 2-3 seasons. |
