I recently placed top soil on a number of spots that I intended to reseed. However, it rained before I'd a chance to put down the seed. Can I lay the seed on top of this wet soil & cover with straw in hopes of gemination? Also, what type of starter fertilizer will/can get from Home Depot. When do I apply it?

Thank you,

Dave

I'm sure the top soil is fine. Rake over the top to roughen it up so the seeds will have someplace to rest. Broadcast your seeds and then sprinkle a little compost or peat moss over the top to help keep the seeds moist. Water as often as necessary to keep the areas moist. Grass seed should sprout in 7-14 days. Enjoy your lawn!
