The Q&A Archives: Planting vegetables in pots

Question: Would it be better to plant a tomato plant in a pot or pepper plants-which will require the least amount of water?

Answer: Tomato plants will need a 5-gallon container because they have extensive root systems. I'd plant the tomato in the ground and the pepper plant in a container. Peppers require less water than tomato plants.
