How do I plant bush beans on the Oregon coast in a windy location? |
Although you are planting bush beans I think you'll need to drive a stake into the soil next to the plant and gently tie it up until it matures enough to stand up straight, regardless of the wind. Or, plant a wind break of sturdy woody perennials in front of the beans to help reduce the velocity of the wind. Lavender makes a nice, dense wind block for more tender plants. Best wishes with your garden! |
