The Q&A Archives: testing soil

Question: how do you test soil?

Answer: Most garden centers stock a variety of kits suitable for home gardening purposes; your local County Extension should also offer inexpensive soil sampling kits which are then analyzed for you. They can help you with the tests and with interpreting the results, especially if you are interested in more detailed types of analysis. Finally, there are also private soil testing laboratories that can give you very precise results for a wide variety of tests.
