Answer: In general all of the cultivars of Cordyline australis and the hybrids will grow well in full coastal sun to light shade and prefer good drainage. They are fairy drought tolerant but grow more lush with regular irrigation and all seem to tolerate conditions near the ocean with some protection from the salt laden winds. I suspect you are overwatering your cordyline. Root stress can show up in the upperleaves. Try watering your plant deeply once a week. Best wishes with your plant!
